Equipment Overview

The Komatsu PC138US is a 15.1 to 15.5-tonne short tail swing excavator, built with a tail swing radius of just 1,480 mm so it can work in one lane of traffic without disturbing the other. A higher boom raise angle than a conventional excavator also cuts the minimum front implement swing radius to 1,980 mm, giving greater clearance for road work, underground utilities and other jobs where a standard-swing machine won’t fit. The contoured cab and sliding door swing within the same radius as the counterweight, so cab size isn’t sacrificed for the compact footprint.

Power comes from a Komatsu SAA4D95LE-7 engine, a 4-cylinder, variable-flow turbocharged diesel producing 72.6 kW gross (72.5 kW net) at 2,050 rpm, meeting EPA Tier 4 Final emissions standards through a Komatsu Diesel Oxidation Catalyst and SCR aftertreatment system. Komatsu’s Closed-centre Load Sensing hydraulic system matches engine and pump output to the load, and six working modes, including dedicated lifting and breaker settings, let the operator tune performance to the task at hand.
