An open bowl scraper is heavy-duty earthmoving machine that cuts, loads, transports, and dumps material over medium to long distances. It has an open-fronted bowl fitted with cutting edge that scrapes and collects material as it moves forward. The fill is deposited by way of gravity and forward motion, but in more challenging soil conditions, a push tractor could be required to help load the bowl.
