Equipment Overview
The Kobelco SK008 is the smallest excavator in Kobelco’s mini excavator range, a 0.8-tonne class machine built for residential sites where space is tight. Its retracted crawler width of just 680 mm lets it pass through gates around 70 cm wide, and the tail overhang is only 305 mm, so the machine can swing right up against a wall without the rear end catching. It has an operating weight of 1,035 kg and a 1.5 m maximum digging depth, suited to garden and courtyard work as much as general residential excavation.
Power comes from a Perkins 402J-05 engine, a vertical water-cooled 2-cylinder diesel producing 7.7 kW gross at 2,400 rpm, built to conform with the Japan Land Engine Manufacturers Association’s voluntary emissions regulations. Drive is through a variable displacement axial piston travel motor, with a hydraulically retractable and self-cleaning crawler frame that extends the track gauge from 680 mm out to 840 mm for extra stability once the machine is on site.
