Equipment Overview
The Hitachi ZX160LC is a 16.6 to 18.5-tonne excavator built for general construction and civil work, part of Hitachi’s ZAXIS medium excavator range. It’s fitted with a D-section revolving frame for resistance to deformation and a reinforced undercarriage, with the front idler and adjuster cylinder strengthened for durability on rough sites. A 5.10 m boom is offered with either a 2.22 m or 2.58 m arm, and buckets from 0.52 m³ up to 0.82 m³ ISO heaped cover a range of digging and loading tasks.
Power comes from an Isuzu AM-4JJ1X engine, a 4-cylinder, common rail direct injection diesel with variable geometry turbocharging and cooled EGR, producing 95.0 kW gross (90.2 kW net) at 2,200 rpm and 406 Nm of torque at 1,800 rpm, meeting EU Stage IIIB emissions standards through a muffler filter and oxidation catalyst. The HIOS III hydraulic system delivers a 14% fuel saving in Power mode and 37% in Eco mode compared with the previous ZAXIS generation, and a 10% power-boost function lifts excavating force when needed.
