Equipment Overview
The CAT 345 is a 45-tonne large excavator built for bulk earthmoving, quarry work and major infrastructure projects where stability and breakout force matter more than compact-site agility. Excellent control, high stick and bucket forces, and impressive lift capacity make it well suited to high-volume digging and continuous truck loading. A dual-pump hydraulic design allows one pump to be shut off when full flow isn’t needed, and an optional four-speed transmission holds a constant speed for jobs like trenching.
Power comes from a Cat C13 engine with ACERT Technology producing 257 kW (345 hp), offering 21% greater displacement than the previous 3176C engine while running at 10% lower speed for better fuel economy and reduced wear. Bucket digging force reaches around 235 kN with 720 L/min of hydraulic flow, giving the machine the muscle for deep excavation and mass material movement. New K-series bucket GET uses a hammerless vertical retainer that’s easier to remove and install than the previous pin system.
