Equipment Overview
The Cat 349 is a 48.6-tonne large excavator built for mass excavation, quarry work and major earthmoving projects, offering up to 45% more operating efficiency and 10% better fuel efficiency than the 349F it replaces. It carries the industry’s highest level of standard factory-installed technology in its class, including Cat Grade with 2D, Grade Assist, Boom Assist and Swing Assist, helping operators of all skill levels dig more accurately while using less effort and fuel.
Power comes from a Cat C13 engine producing 298 kW (399 hp) net, meeting EPA Tier 4 Final, Japan 2014 and Korea Tier 4 Final emissions standards and able to run on biodiesel up to B20. Three power modes, Power, Smart and Eco, balance maximum output against fuel savings, and self-sharpening Advansys bucket tips increase production and lower running costs. The machine handles high-ambient conditions up to 52°C and cold starts down to -18°C.
