Equipment Overview

The CAT 312 is a 13.5 to 15-tonne excavator built for general construction, trenching and site work, part of Caterpillar’s long-running 300 Series family. It’s available with three stick lengths (2.5 m, 2.8 m and 3.0 m reach sticks) and a range of track shoe widths, letting the machine be configured for reach or for ground pressure depending on the job. Operating weight runs from 13,500 kg with the shortest stick and narrowest shoes up to 15,000 kg in its heaviest configuration.

Power comes from a Cat C4.4 ACERT engine producing 71 kW gross (68 kW net) at rated speed, meeting EPA Tier 4 Interim emissions standards with an automatic aftertreatment regeneration system that needs no operator intervention. The engine features an electronically controlled high-pressure fuel system capable of running biodiesel blends up to B20. Two power modes, high power and economy, let the operator trade maximum production for lower fuel use, and side-by-side coolers keep servicing straightforward.
