Equipment Overview
The Takeuchi TB280FR is an 8.53 to 8.73-tonne compact excavator distinguished by its patented side-to-side (STS) offset boom combined with full rotation (FR) capability and near zero tail swing. The unique STS boom can position anywhere across the front of the machine without any reduction in dig depth or ground reach, and the design allows the boom to fully retract and rotate 360 degrees while exceeding the track width by only about 12 cm, delivering the performance of larger excavators with the agility of a much smaller machine.
Power comes from a Yanmar 4TNV98CT engine producing 69.2 hp (51.6 kW) at 2,000 rpm and 308 Nm of torque at 1,300 rpm. Bucket breakout force reaches around 72.6 kN and arm digging force 31.3 kN, giving formidable excavation capability for the size class. Automatic step-down travel motors provide torque on demand when pushing, climbing or turning, and Power and High-Altitude modes let operators choose the setting best suited to the application, with electronic throttle control, auto deceleration and eco-mode maximising fuel efficiency.
