Equipment Overview
The Cat D6K is a small dozer built for finish grading, offered in XL and LGP undercarriage configurations with 125 hp (93.2 kW) and an operating weight of 12,886 kg in XL trim, suited to civil construction, utility, and general earthmoving work on sites that call for a compact, manoeuvrable machine rather than a full-size dozer. It was superseded in Caterpillar’s lineup by the D6K2, which later evolved into the current D4.
Power comes from the Cat C6.6 ACERT engine, which meets U.S. EPA Tier 3, EU Stage IIIA, and Japan MOC Step 3 emission standards. A dual-path, electronically controlled, closed-loop hydrostatic transmission gives independent power to each track for smooth acceleration, tight power turns, and on-the-go direction changes, while the SystemOne undercarriage is designed to extend service life and lower owning and operating costs. The machine can also be equipped with AccuGrade laser or GPS grade control for automated blade positioning.
