The Cat D3 is a small dozer built for fine grading and general earthmoving, part of Caterpillar’s Next Generation D1/D2/D3 small dozer family and the direct replacement for the D5K2. Power comes from the Cat C3.6 engine, turbocharged and aftercooled, which meets U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final, EU Stage V, Japan 2014, and Korea Tier 5 emission standards while cutting fuel use by up to 20 percent in ECO mode. A fully hydrostatic transmission drives each track independently for smooth acceleration and tight, on-the-go direction changes, while a load-sensing system automatically matches ground speed to blade load. Optional Cat Grade with 3D and Slope Assist help hold finish-grade accuracy, and Steer Assist automates track steering.
