The Cat 336 is a 36.6 to 36.8-tonne large excavator built for heavy digging, loading and uptime, delivering up to 15% higher fuel efficiency than the 336F it replaces. Standard Cat technologies including Grade with Assist, Grade with 2D and 3D, and Payload help operators dig with precision and increase operating efficiency by up to 45%. Auto Dig Boost increases power by up to 8% for better bucket penetration and shorter cycle times, and extended service intervals cut maintenance costs by up to 20% compared with the previous generation.
Power comes from a Cat C7.1 TTA engine producing 223 kW (300 hp), meeting EPA Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V emissions standards through a transparent aftertreatment system that needs no operator intervention. Bucket digging force reaches 210 kN and stick digging force 144 kN, with 560 L/min of hydraulic flow. Three power modes, Power, Smart and Eco, let the operator balance maximum output against fuel savings, and the machine has a high-ambient capability up to 52°C.
