The Hitachi ZX170W is an 18.3 to 19.5-tonne wheeled excavator built for versatility on construction, utility and municipal sites, easily manoeuvred around the job site and equipped for a wide range of attachments. Visibility of the front of the machine, especially on the right-hand side, has been improved for safer operation, and a reinforced chassis with strengthened boom foot brackets is built to withstand rugged working environments. A fine-tuned spool with additional solenoid valves reduces hydraulic oil returned to the tank, increasing efficiency.

Power comes from an Isuzu engine producing 122 kW (164 hp), delivering impressive fuel economy alongside swift front movements and easy operation. Bucket capacity ranges from 0.52 to 0.82 m³, and a power boost function increases digging force by 6% for up to eight seconds when extra push is needed. Bucket digging force reaches 102 kN, and the machine can travel at up to 35 km/h between sites, with a 4.5 m hydraulic lift height and 6.0 m tipping load reach at ground level.
