Equipment Overview

The Cat M318 is an 18.5-tonne wheeled excavator built for high mobility and versatility on paved and semi-improved surfaces, common on utility, municipal and urban construction work. A choice of one-piece or VA boom gives flexibility between standard applications like truck loading and digging, and tighter-quarters work where improved right-side visibility and roading balance matter. Optional Cat Grade with Assist helps operators stay on grade with single-lever digging, and Bucket Assist automatically maintains a set bucket angle through sloping, levelling, fine grading and trenching work.

Power comes from a Cat C4.4 engine producing 129 kW (174 hp), meeting EPA Tier 4 Final, EU Stage V and Korea Stage V emissions standards, and emitting less CO2 than the M318F it replaces. Optional Cat Payload gives real-time weight estimates while picking up material with a bucket-and-thumb combination or grapple and clamshell attachments, without needing to swing first. Four-fold outrigger stabilisers support stable digging and lifting, and the machine can travel at highway-adjacent speeds between sites.
