Equipment Overview
The Cat D9 is a large dozer built for heavy ripping and high-production dozing, part of Caterpillar’s D1–D11 dozer range and a mainstay of mine site and heavy civil earthmoving fleets. It has 337 kW (452 hp) of net power in its Tier 2/3-equivalent configuration, an operating weight of 49,988 kg with the standard semi-universal blade and single-shank ripper fitted, suited to overburden ripping, production dozing, stockpiling, and site reclamation.
Power comes from the Cat C18 engine, offered in this Tier 2/3-equivalent rating or, where required, a Tier 4 Final/EU Stage V version rated at 328 kW (440 hp). A three-speed electronic powershift transmission uses a stator clutch torque converter that automatically frees up under low load for higher drivetrain efficiency, and bogie suspension lets the track conform to the ground for better traction and less slippage. A single-shank, single-shank-deep, or multi-shank ripper is available for overburden and hard-material work.
