Equipment Overview
The CAT 615 is an elevating scraper sitting between the smaller 613 and the larger 623 in Caterpillar’s wheel tractor-scraper line, built for self-loading cut-and-fill work with a heaped capacity of 13 cubic metres. At close to 26 tonnes empty, it suits mid-scale residential and commercial site preparation, road-base and pad work, and agricultural land-levelling jobs that need more volume per pass than the 613 without stepping up to a bulk open-bowl scraper.
A Cat 3306 engine drives the tractor, delivering 197 kW (265 hp) net through a six-speed planetary powershift transmission. A two-speed hydraulic elevator with an 18-flight chain handles loading, giving the 615 stronger self-loading performance across a wider range of material conditions than the smaller 613. Drive runs through the tractor’s rear wheels alone, with the scraper riding on its own trailing axle.
