Equipment Overview

The Komatsu PC4000 is a 398 to 409-tonne hydraulic mining excavator designed with input from mining organisations to minimise cost per tonne, matching trucks in the 150 to 240 US-ton class. Available in shovel or backhoe configuration with an advanced control system, it’s built for productivity and reliability in the toughest surface mining operations. Operator and worksite safety are a priority, with a 360-degree LED screen view, anti-slip gratings, easy ingress and egress, and an innovative emergency escape system meeting ISO 10262, 6394 and 10263-4 safety standards.

Power comes from a Komatsu SDA16V160E-3 engine producing 1,400 kW (1,875 hp) at 1,800 rpm, with a selective catalytic reduction system and electronic engine management keeping emission levels low; an electric drive option is also available. Bucket capacity is 22 m³ in both shovel and backhoe configuration. The Argus Payload Monitoring System weighs each bucket in real time, and the optional ProVision Machine Guidance System uses high-precision GNSS positioning for up to 1 cm accuracy while digging and loading.
