Equipment Overview
The K-Tec 1228 is a pull-type scraper designed to be towed by a separate tractor or articulated dump truck rather than carrying its own power unit, part of K-Tec’s Direct Mount range alongside the larger 1230, 1233 and 1236 models. It has a heaped capacity of 21.4 cubic metres and a shipping weight of around 13.4 tonnes, suited to broadacre land-levelling, farm dam construction, and low-ground-pressure earthworks in sandy or soft soil where a lightweight, self-loading scraper outperforms a heavier motor scraper.
The 1228 has no onboard engine or transmission; its bowl, gate and ejector cylinders run off the towing tractor’s hydraulics through 3/4-inch quick-connect tips, and it needs a minimum of 300 hp (220 kW) to pull. The solid-welded, rigid frame carries its load on a single rear axle fitted with 23.5R25 radial tyres as standard, splitting roughly a quarter of the load onto the tractor hitch and three-quarters onto the scraper’s own axle.
