Equipment Overview

The Hitachi EX8000 is an 827-tonne excavator, the largest hydraulic excavator in the EX-7 series and Hitachi’s flagship machine, designed to deliver maximum production in ultra-large mining operations. Built for high-volume material movement, it enables continuous, large-scale loading with exceptional output per cycle, supporting pass match with 220 to 290-tonne class dump trucks. Advanced fuel optimisation technologies, state-of-the-art safety features and a focus on easy maintenance let the machine work around the clock in challenging conditions.

Power comes from twin Cummins engines producing a combined 2,900 kW (3,888 hp), with an MTU alternative also available. Each hydraulic pump is individually controlled with its own electric regulator, and a flow regeneration valve lowers fuel consumption and improves pump life. Backhoe bucket capacity ranges up to 52.0 m³, and three genuine bucket options, Light Duty, General Purpose and Heavy Duty, suit different applications and site conditions.
