Equipment Overview

The Hitachi EX5600 is a 549-tonne mining excavator built for ultra-high production in large-scale surface mining operations, including copper, iron ore and coal. It supports pass match with 180 to 290-tonne class dump trucks, and buckets equipped with the Bradken GET system and an optimised lip design extend service life and reduce downtime. Three genuine bucket options, Light Duty, General Purpose and Heavy Duty, suit different applications and site conditions, and improved pathways and railings support safer access to the machine.

Power comes from twin Cummins engines producing a combined 2,238 kW (3,000 hp), with an MTU option also available. A high-performance hydraulic system with twelve variable-displacement axial piston pumps delivers exceptional digging force and cycle efficiency. Backhoe bucket capacity ranges up to 38.5 m³, and bucket digging force reaches 1,590 kN. The EX5600 comes standard with Hitachi’s Global e-Service remote machine management system for complete fleet visibility.
