Equipment Overview

The CAT 773 is a rigid dump truck built for high-production overburden and ore hauling in open-pit mining and quarrying, sitting between the smaller CAT 772 and the larger CAT 775 in Caterpillar’s off-highway truck line. It carries a 56-tonne target payload and a 35.75 m³ heaped body, delivering 615 kW of gross power, suited to large-scale mine sites, quarries, and bulk earthworks where wheel loaders or hydraulic shovels match it for fast cycle times.

Power comes from a Cat C27 diesel engine producing 615 kW (825 hp) gross and 572 kW (768 hp) net, with 4,269 N·m of peak torque at 1,200 rpm. The engine meets U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V emission standards, with a Tier 2 equivalent version available for non-regulated regions. A seven-speed automatic powershift transmission drives the rear axle, coordinated by Caterpillar’s APECS control strategy, with traction control managing wheel slip across the two drive wheels on loose or wet haul roads.
