The Kobelco SK235SR – a 24 tonne class, short radius excavator – was built with a single goal in mind : to deliver high productivity right in the most restricted & urban job sites. Thanks to it’s impressively compact tailswing design – with a reduced rear overhang this machines can get a lot closer to walls, structures & utilities without having to sacrifice any of its strength or reach. This makes it perfect for civil works, road construction, utility installation & any job that requires tight access to the site.
Under the bonnet, the SK235SR is powered by a respectable 118 kW (160 hp) engine, plenty of oomph to get the job done in the standard spec -2 version. It comes in just shy of 24,100 kg for the standard model. With a digging depth of around 6.65 m and a maximum reach of roughly 9.85 m, you can bet it’s going to be good on that medium-sized excavation tasks.
The hydraulic system is top-notch, designed for heavy duty use and can handle the smoothst boom, arm & bucket actions while keeping the machine stable and in control on the busiest of sites. The undercarriage & tracks are built to last & are super mobile, helping the contractor get from one task to the next without losing a beat.
The operator comfort & site efficiency have also been well thought out – the cab has been designed with ergonomic controls, great visibility & super quiet operation to make life a lot easier for the guy in the drivers seat. And i guess maintenance access has been simplified with grouped service points & dust reduction systems to keep the machine running in the toughest of conditions.
All in all, the Kobelco SK235SR has got a great balance of compact design, full sized digging capability & operator usability – making it a pretty reliable choice for hire fleets & contractors who have to work in confined job-site environs.
